DESIGN ADVICE SERVICE PROGRAMMES
Free Entry Level Design Advice
Clients may avail of a free half-day, one-to-one session with a professional design adviser at their own premises. Advice ranges from specific project related issues to high-level strategic assistance and can encompass many areas including:
- design management
- material selection or testing
- graphic design
- packaging and brand design
- textile and fashion design
- interior and furniture design
- engineering and product design
- environmental impact
- regulatory compliance
- potential partnership arrangements
- supplier linkages
- trends
- intellectual property.
Mini Design Development Programme (Mini DDP)
The aim of this programme is to inspire and create understanding within businesses of the importance of design in developing commercial success. It offers an introductory insight into the value of design and offers company participants an opportunity to work with experienced mentors and design professionals on their own small scale project.
The Mini DDP runs 4 times per annum with maximum 15 participants in each programme. The Programme is designed specifically for small Invest NI clients and includes:
- one group workshop to highlight the importance of design
- a one-to-one mentoring session from a Design Adviser to support development of a design brief
- up to four consultancy days per client company with design professional related to their specific design need.
Main Design Development Programme (Main DDP)
This well established programme is delivered over a four-month period. It is comprised of two key elements. Firstly a series of one-to-one consultations with an assigned mentor, followed by workshops and networking opportunities to promote better understanding of design in terms of strategy and applied knowledge. Finally, this knowledge is brought to life when participants are paired with an experienced design consultant (for a period of 7 days) to develop their own concepts to meet their specific design need.
The Main DDP runs 4 times per annum with maximum 15 participants in each programme. The Programme will consist of:
- two full-day interactive sessions;
- four afternoon sessions, including a hotel-based residential session, a mid-term review session and a final exhibition; and
- a reunion session approximately six months after completion of the programme to evaluate progress.
