EU Framework
Framework programmes are the European Union’s main mechanism for funding and encouraging leading edge research and technological development.
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) runs from January 2007 for seven years. Invest NI administers the programme in Northern Ireland. If you are interested in undertaking internationally collaborative research and development projects, you should consider bidding for support from FP7.
Significant opportunities
Collaboration with others is essential for anyone making an FP7 application. The applications are usually submitted by pan-European consortia in reply to specific calls for proposals issued by the European Commission.
If you can establish or be part of consortia that share knowledge, expertise and skills, through the programme your business or organisation could:
- become involved in ambitious leading-edge projects
- open up new and significant contacts, networks and markets within Europe and beyond
Our experience tells us that internationally collaborative and innovative research and development (R&D) projects will have significant financial assistance opportunities on this programme.
Who is eligible?
Organisations in EU member states and associated countries, including businesses, higher education and research institutions, policy makers and customer-facing businesses and individuals.
