What is the Programme?

The Kauffman Foundation Fellowship is an education programme which takes 12 of the best entrepreneurial talent from UK universities and links them with the entrepreneurial environment in America.  The purpose of the Fellowship is to encourage UK graduates to ultimately develop scalable, high intensity, high impact businesses.  The programme has been developed by the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE) in the UK and the Kauffman Foundation in America.

Find further information on the Kauffman Foundation and the Fellowship Scheme on the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship website.

The Fellowship consists of two stages:

Stage 1 July – December 2008

Fellows work with their university to develop their science, engineering or technological business.  Induction and development sessions take place in London as preparation for Stage 2.

Stage 2 January – June 2009
Fellows spend 6 months in the USA as a Kauffman Global Scholar and receive world-class entrepreneurship education.  They will spend time in leading US universities (Harvard, MIT, Stanford) and then 12 weeks as interns in leading innovative companies.

How is Invest NI involved?

Invest NI has collaborated for the 3rd year with NCGE to offer sponsorship for two Northern Ireland university students to be part of this Fellowship.  This sponsorship will cover costs for successful candidates to travel to London during Stage 1, travel to and from America and some living costs in Stage 2.
