Foresight NI
Our Foresight NI programme is designed to help local industry increase the exploitation of emerging science and technologies. The programme encourages collaboration between academia and industry in the area of pre-competitive research.
This is done by bringing together key people, knowledge and ideas to tackle projects where science and technology hold the promise of a solution to a key issue, or where an emerging area of science and technology has potential application yet to be considered.
Foresight NI focuses on a combination of science and technology, economic development, business dynamics and regional and international considerations for the economy or Northern Ireland society at large.
Core elements
The programme consists of a series of networking opportunities, workshops and financial assistance and its core elements are the dissemination of knowledge from national and regional Foresight programmes, regionally focused research, and funding support for Foresight-aligned projects.
The programme creates opportunities for businesses and universities to:
- interact with key stakeholders for long-term business benefits
- build the necessary networks and promote communication between business, government and academia
- build capabilities to tackle long-term business issues
Who is eligible?
Foresight NI is open to all Invest NI clients, and Northern Ireland businesses and universities. It is typically suited to those who have already invested in research infrastructure and who can provide the necessary investment to capitalise on emerging science and technologies. Projects must be science or technologies based and satisfy additional project criteria.
