Our NITech (Northern Ireland Technology) Fund is venture capital support for financing the commercialisation of technology or research and development (R&D) within start-ups or existing businesses. The fund is designed to help create or help expand innovative, research-led, market-orientated businesses.

NITech offers a combination of financial assistance and specialist advice from a venture capital manager, who will contribute expertise, experience and contacts, and whose participation can often lend credibility to the business.

Assessment criteria are used to assess if the project will receive funding. These look at whether the project will:

• use innovative technology
• have protected and unencumbered ownership of intellectual property
• demonstrate a clear commercial opportunity
• be likely to securing third party equity funding in due course
• have appropriate management skills available

Who is eligible?

The fund is available to start-ups, existing businesses and individual researchers, research teams and university departments within Northern Ireland.
