Compete

Our Compete programme helps businesses that want to develop market-led, innovative products and manufacturing processes.

It is a financial support package encouraging better near-market research and development (R&D) and greater business competitiveness. Participants will also be able to commercially exploit the innovation expertise developed during the programme’s delivery.

Developing competitive capability

By taking part your business will:

  • develop the capability and skill to exploit future opportunities in your field
  • become more competitive

Compete is run in two distinct phases. On this programme up to £15,000 may be available in the first phase; up to £250,000 may be available in the second phase.

Phase one is optional but highly recommended. This phase defines the project in detail and addresses key areas such as market research, technical research, product specification and resource specification.

Phase two is the main development phase of Compete and sees the concept developed to the point of early commercialisation.
