Our Research and Technological Development (RTD) Centres of Excellence programme is a financial support package targeting major proposals from industry and academia.

The programme is designed to support the establishment of RTD centres that will stimulate leading-edge, industrially exploitable and commercially focused research that will:

• improve the competitiveness of local industry
• exploit the opportunities offered by new technologies
• fuel industrial wealth creation
• further restructure the Northern Ireland economy

Centres of excellence allow fresh and energetic talent to drive and capitalise on cutting edge research. The most recent centres were established with European Peace II funds, further augmented by Invest NI support. Whilst these funds have been allocated, we continue to consider proposals from both industry and academia.

Who is eligible?

Business and academic organisations that will carry out leading edge, industrially exploitable and above all, commercially focused research. Projects that reflect key Northern Ireland and European technology are particularly welcome.
