Please note that the Green Technology Initiative programme is currently closed to new applications. For further information contact Fiona Walker or Nuala Devlin below.

The Green Technology Initiative (GTI) offers businesses with less than 250 employees interest free loans towards the cost of capital equipment repayable over three years. The initiative is aimed at:

  • improving air quality, reducing emissions and pollution;
  • reducing solid waste disposal to landfill and disposal costs;
  • reducing water use, effluent disposal and associate costs; and
  • reusing, recovering and recycling waste materials or removing toxic materials from products.

The Green Technology Initiative provides interest free loans of up to £50,000 (repayable over three years) towards the cost of capital equipment in eligible projects that reduce environmental impact and achieve significant cost savings.

Who is eligible?

The Green Technology Initiative is available to all Invest NI clients and Northern Ireland businesses with fewer than 250 employees. Preference will be given to established businesses. Applications from start-up businesses that clearly demonstrate the need for such an intervention and meet the application criteria will also be considered.
