Specialist assistance for businesses to research overseas markets prior to attempting to sell in those countries is available from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

This government organisation funds the Export Marketing Research Scheme and teams of advisors, including one in Invest NI, who advise businesses across the UK on sound methods of marketing research.

Free advice

The advisors can go through your business’ exporting requirements and advise free of charge, before setting your business on a route to research, training courses and funding.

The Export Marketing Research Scheme will help you:

• consider your entry into new markets with care
• undertake or commission marketing research based on sound methodology
• develop a strategy for market entry or further investment into an overseas market
• understand the discipline and the benefits of marketing research
• maximise exporting opportunities

The scheme also provides financial support for up to 50 per cent of the eligible market research costs.

Who is eligible?

All UK businesses with fewer than 250 employing wishing to research specific overseas markets for their own products or services. You do not need to be an Invest NI client business. Trade associations are also eligible for support.
