A new look at increasing profitability

“Local companies who continuously review their processes can achieve sustainable growth and increase competitiveness and profitability,” according to Victor Jordan, Invest Northern Ireland’s Director of Business Improvement Services.

Mr Jordan was speaking after a seminar was held in Ballymena which updated companies in the North East on the benefits to be gained from evaluating and improving their operational processes. Firms from Antrim, Carrickfergus, Larne and Ballymena were present at the event.

The event focused on how effective management of operational areas including the elimination of waste and workplace layout can make a business more profitable in the long-term.

Case studies were used to demonstrate how successful Invest NI projects have positively impacted on businesses. Following yesterday’s event, there will be a series of workshops for client companies and their key operational staff. One-to-one consultancy support can then be provided to facilitate the implementation of the process improvement project.

“Many companies concentrate solely on developing advertising campaigns and increasing sales as a way to boost turnover,” added Mr Jordan. “However, whilst a robust sales and marketing strategy is essential for competitive growth, firms also need to consider innovative ways of continuously improving all aspects of their business. Invest NI is committed to helping companies achieve this goal.”
