Cookstown electronics company Advanced Electronic Solutions (AES) Distribution NI Ltd has achieved rapid sales growth and export success with support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The Cookstown firm designs and manufactures the largest range of wireless and GSM intercom systems in the world, based on its innovative wireless technology. It recently moved to new premises in Kilcronagh Industrial Estate and secured its first larger export deal in the US.

Since it was established five years ago, AES has seen a rapid increase in sales and is now exporting to 20 countries. Earlier this year the company received support from Invest NI to undertake export marketing activity, which included exhibiting at shows in Egypt, Las Vegas, London, Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur.

Through this activity AES secured a number of new dealerships as well as repeat sales for its products. The company now plans to attract customers in South Africa, Italy, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Invest NI has also offered Jobs Fund support to help AES create additional new jobs over the next two years.

Managing Director Paul Creighton commented: “A combination of foresight to seek international markets and the ability to understand overseas market requirements, together with innovative technology, has helped us on our way to becoming a globally recognised brand in the access control industry. Invest NI’s support has been instrumental and at times crucial for a young business like ours to take that leap forward and explore international markets.

“Our move to larger premises in Kilcronagh Industrial Estate gave us the space we need to operate efficiently, with better access to the transport network and local facilities,” he added.

AES currently employs 10 staff, four of whom were supported under a previous Invest NI Jobs Fund offer.

Ian Murphy, Invest NI’s Director of Growth and Scaling, said: “With Invest NI’s support, AES has grown rapidly, quadrupling its turnover during the past five years.  The company’s success has been built upon an export market focus and its excellent electronic design capability. With the efficiency and capacity gained through the move to new premises AES is now in a good position to expand further and looks set to achieve continued growth in the coming years.”
