Boomer Industries in Lisburn has won significant business from a new customer in Saudi Arabia for its PVC products including pre-hung door systems.
The company is supplying its products and services to Nesma Spacemaker, a modular building company which is based in Al Khobar, Eastern Saudi Arabia. The products are for a major project that Nesma is carrying out on behalf of Saudi Aramco, which is closely associated with the Kingdom’s petroleum business.
In addition, Boomer Industries is currently negotiating to supply products for a number of construction projects in Afghanistan. It also exports products to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Nigeria and the US. It is currently exploring other business opportunities in Ghana.
The company’s new business in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia’s main oil production centre, was announced by Managing Director Andrew Robinson and welcomed by Dr Vicky Kell, Invest Northern Ireland Trade Director.
Dr Kell said: “This important contract for Boomer Industries shows the benefits that can result from a sharp focus on Saudi Arabia, still among the world’s most dynamic markets and one currently investing heavily in construction and infrastructure projects.
“Boomer Industries has a long-term commitment to the region and is among our most active companies there. We continue to encourage and assist Northern Ireland companies, both large and small, to engage with this important market through our extensive programme of trade missions and by means of our marketing teams in the Gulf as well as here in Northern Ireland.”
Mr Robinson said: “We’ve been exporting to the Middle East for over 30 years and have developed a network of business contacts in key markets there including Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and now Afghanistan. Invest NI’s offices and team in Dubai have also enabled us to broaden our base throughout the region and to explore opportunities in Africa. Being able to access the Invest NI facilities and the knowledge and expertise, particularly in Dubai has been immensely beneficial.
“Saudi Arabia certainly offers significant opportunities in construction supplies and services but it’s an extremely competitive marketplace and one which demands a substantial investment particularly in terms of time in the market.
“As well as servicing the market from Dubai, I visit regularly for discussions with existing business contacts and to keep abreast of developments there. Over the years I’ve found that regular visits lead to business because the Saudi people expect a high level of commitment.
“It was during one of these visits that the opportunity with Nesma arose. Nesma is one of Saudi’s leading and most respected engineering and construction companies. The company has an impressive client base and has carried out projects throughout the Gulf.”
