A 26-strong delegation from Denver, Colorado, will be in Northern Ireland this week to explore opportunities for trade and investment and academic collaboration on a week-long visit organised by Invest NI.

The delegation from Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the World Trade Centre, Denver and the Colorado Governor’s Office will be meeting business and academic leaders in Belfast, Londonderry and Coleraine.

The visit has been facilitated by Invest NI’s Northern Ireland Technology and Development Centre in Denver, which has been assisting a group of Northern Ireland companies to develop business in Colorado state and other parts of the US and Canada since its formation last year.

Alan Hingston, Invest NI’s Trade director, commenting on the visit, said: “This mission is part of an ongoing focus by Invest NI on providing opportunities for Northern Ireland companies to develop business in Denver and the wider Rocky Mountain region. Our technology and development centre, opened in 2003, provides a gateway for Northern Ireland companies and the universities to this important region.

“The centre provides in-market advice and assistance to Northern Ireland companies in areas such as trade and joint ventures. It has a strongly practical focus that enables companies to pinpoint potential business partners in a region that, in common with Northern Ireland, is essentially a small business-led economy.”

Joe Blake, president and chief executive officer of Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, said: “We are looking forward to our meetings in Belfast, Derry and Coleraine. International trade missions are crucially important to Denver’s economy. This mission will strengthen further the business links that have been developing with Northern Ireland over many years.”

The Denver delegation comprises: Amerimed Corporation; Avidity;
BioCare Systems Inc; BP Proteomics; Byers Peak; Capital Funding Strategies; Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce; Fighting Bull Technologies;
Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority; Governor’s Economic Development and International Trade; RMC Pharmaceuticals; Rocky Mountain Valuation Specialists; CHSC and the World Trade Centre Denver.
