Export Success for Belfast Software Company

Jul 27, 2010

Belfast based Fluent Technology has been awarded a major contract in GB with marketing support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The contract with the Surrey Strategic Partnership will see the company provide a countywide networked data and information store and library complete with data analysis and survey tools to help public sector organisations in Surrey work together.

Fluent Technology was formed in 2001 and since then has built up a strong track record, particularly for its core software product called ORIGIN. As well as receiving Invest NI and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) support for development of ORIGIN, Fluent is now accessing additional Invest NI support to assist with promoting and marketing the product throughout the UK.

Donal Durkan, head of Invest NI’s Life Sciences and Creative division, says: “Fluent Technology has identified a niche in the public sector market and with Invest NI support has developed a highly successful product targeted at local authorities. The company is now ramping up its marketing activity and is particularly targeting the market in Great Britain. This dual focus on innovation and exporting is a strong strategy for growth and we will continue to work with Fluent Technology to help it realise its commercial goals.”

David Cordner, a director and solution architect for Fluent Technology, says: “We are delighted to have won this contract to deliver what will probably be one of the UK's most ambitious local information systems to date. The total solution will serve hundreds of users across Surrey and deliver open access to much of the data, insights and profiles for the general public, dramatically increasing information sharing and communication between public bodies.”
