LBM, the UK’s largest privately owned direct marketing company, is setting up a new contact centre in West Belfast which is expected to create 300 new jobs in the short to medium term and potentially up to 750 jobs. It is anticipated that the project will generate over £50million in wages and salaries over the next five years.
The new investment was announced today by Leslie Morrison, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland.
Speaking at the announcement Leslie Morrison said: “This project is a positive demonstration of the company’s confidence in the skills and capabilities of the Northern Ireland workforce and the region’s ability to attract quality inward investment.
“Based within Springvale Business Park, the contact centre will provide good quality, knowledge-based jobs in a New Targeting Social Need area. It will also offer extensive training opportunities and highly competitive salary packages for potential employees.”
LBM’s decision to set up in Belfast follows a number of other high profile Invest NI-supported investments from other contact service providers such as HCL and HML.
Created in 1996 LBM operates two divisions. LBM Contact is the 6th largest outsourced contact centre services provider in the UK. LBM Data is one of the top three data providers in the UK supplying business and consumer data, e-mail data, data management and analytical services. With head offices in Altrincham near Manchester, the company employs over 1,500 people across North West England and London. LBM’s existing call centres are based in Altrincham, Bredbury and Middleton.
For the second successive year LBM has made it into the top 100 fastest growing businesses in the UK as published by Real Business Magazine. From being the 70th fastest growing business in 2003, LBM have climbed the table to an impressive 45th position for 2004, underlining the sustained growth of the business.
Servicing a number of blue chip clients including O2, npower, Alliance & Leicester and The Dixons Group, LBM Contact handle in excess of 3 million client calls per month and are looking to their new Belfast facility to ensure continued company growth.
Commenting on the decision to invest in Northern Ireland Ben Dixon, Managing Director of LBM Contact commented: “We chose Belfast, above any other location in the UK and further afield because of the access it will give us to a talented local workforce and the availability of quality office space.
“We plan to use our new Belfast operation to support new business development and service our expanding client base. By utilising the skills of the local workforce LBM will be able to continually improve their services in what is a highly competitive marketplace and achieve new levels of success. In deciding to invest in Northern Ireland we very much value the help and support we have received from Invest NI.”
