Local Company Extends Global Reach

With help from Invest Northern Ireland a Belfast consultancy company is aiming to become one of the world’s top three providers of business intelligence solutions.

OCO Consulting, which employs 20, offers products and services which assist companies with strategic planning, business development, performance improvement, and forecasting.  More than £300,000 has been invested in the project to date, which will help the company deliver its innovative products and services in new international markets.

The company has drawn up an ambitious sales and marketing strategy to exploit global opportunities and one key product is LOCOmonitor which is being tailored for the US and Asian markets as part of the project. LOCOmonitor helps regional development agencies, consulting houses and large companies to gather and analyse information about foreign direct investment.

Mark O’Connell of OCO Consulting says: “We have a highly experienced team and a unique perspective on how to achieve sustained market-leading performance for our clients. We’re currently selling a high percentage of our products and services across Europe, and have identified further market opportunities in the US and Asia. As a result, we are investing significantly in developing LOCOmonitor and in setting up an effective distribution system for it in international markets.”

Ian Murphy, director of Creative and Design Industries in Invest NI, says: “OCO Consulting is an entrepreneurial company that has identified a global market opportunity for its innovative product and we need more companies that have a strong product offering suitable for exploitation in international markets.

The company is anticipating that as a result of the investment seven high quality jobs will be created, which will contribute to developing the business intelligence software sector in Northern Ireland.”

OCO Consulting has built up an impressive portfolio of clients since it was established in 2001. These include the Industrial Development Agency (Ireland), UK Trade & Industry, Invest in Italy, the Welsh Development Agency and Advantage West Midlands.

In addition, OCO produces Mintel’s series of Irish consumer market reports, whilst the United Nations and World Bank use LOCOmonitor to compile their annual reports on global investment trends. The company plans to target the US and Asian markets by setting up partnerships with some of the biggest software and consultancy names in the world.
