Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell has visited Magellan Aerospace in Greyabbey.

Magellan Aerospace Corporation is one of the world’s top Tier 2 aerospace component providers and currently supplies products and services to customers around the world.

Jonathan Bell said: “Magellan Aerospace is regarded as one of the leading precision machining companies, supplying high precision aerospace components directly to Airbus and its supply chain. Magellan is an excellent example of an innovative and dynamic company. Since establishing a presence here, in Northern Ireland in 2012, and working in partnership with Invest Northern Ireland the company has continued to enhance its core engineering capabilities and expand its manufacturing footprint here."

The Minister continued: “Northern Ireland is a global leader in aerospace technology with every major commercial aircraft programme depending on structures, components and expert services from our local supply base. Today it is one of the premier aerospace regions in Europe and the sector accounts for approximately 14% of our manufactured exports. Manufacturing is a vital cog in our economic machine it drives exports, it drives research and it drives development, all of which are the key to generating wealth. I will continue to do all I can to support the sector and protect our important manufacturing heritage. I am confident with a global enterprise like Magellan Aerospace the sector can continue to build on its reputation for excellence in the future.”
