New business boost at Londonderry telemarketing centre

Sep 03, 2007

Censys, the Londonderry-based telemarketing company, has won two major contracts for its expertise and has expanded its operations.

The expansion was announced by Declan O’Donnell, Censys Managing Director, and welcomed by Mary Gormley, Manager of Invest NI’s North West Regional Office, which is working closely with the company on initiatives to help it expand sales outside Northern Ireland.

The latest contracts won by the company are from computer giant Dell and Northern Ireland charity Action Cancer. The new business has created 10 new jobs which are already in place.

Mr O’Donnell said: “The new contracts strengthen our position in two important but quite different markets – technology support and charity fundraising – in which we already have considerable experience and expertise. We are delighted to win business from such prestigious organisations.

“Both were impressed by our track record of assisting companies of all sizes and across a range of sectors, by the quality of our staff, their friendly and highly professional phone manner and by our longstanding experience in meeting the specific requirements of such businesses.

“We continue to benefit immensely from the practical support and expert guidance provided by the team at Invest NI’s North West Regional Office in areas such as international marketing and company development. Our location on the University of Ulster campus at Magee means we are able to access a pool of highly talented young people. As a result, most of our workforce is drawn from Magee,” he added.

Mary Gormley said: “This is very important news for Censys and will encourage the company to continue to explore business opportunities particularly outside Northern Ireland.

“It has developed a strong reputation within the telemarketing industry for high quality services that exceed the expectations of clients. This is seen clearly in the extent of repeat business in the company’s portfolio. It is also making an important contribution to the development of expert telemarketing skills in the North West. Our support is geared to help the company in developing these skills and to win further business in markets developing steadily outside Northern Ireland,” she added.

Censys, which was launched in 2001 and is based at the University of Ulster’s Science and Research Park at Magee, now employs 45 people.

It provides a range of outbound telemarketing and business lead-generation contracts for leading public and private sector organisations in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. It has developed a strong portfolio of clients that also includes Promise Finance, Concern Worldwide and T Mobile. Last year, it opened an office in Boston to tap into the vast US marketplace. This initiative was assisted by Invest NI’s trade team in Belfast.
