New Business Boost for Londonderry-based Censys

Significant new business from major financial services companies in Great Britain has been won by Censys, the Londonderry-based telemarketing company, which is receiving assistance from Invest Northern Ireland.

As a result of recent successes, the company is now working at full capacity and currently employs 35 people - ahead of an original target of 30 - in two shifts at its modern offices at the University of Ulster Science and Research Park on the Magee Campus.

The company provides a range of outbound telemarketing and business lead-generation contracts for leading public and private sector organisations in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Encouraged by its growing success in the United Kingdom, Censys is now gearing up to explore opportunities in the vast US marketplace, a focus which could mean further employment in Derry in the near future

Kenny McInnes, managing director of Censys, who formed the company in 2001 with fellow directors Declan O’Donnell and Kirsty Morrison, says: “We’ve attracted a number of important new contracts recently from leading financial institutions in Great Britain that had heard from our existing clients about the high quality of the results driven services that we provide.

“Our ability to source quality and adaptable employees with excellent people skills, especially graduates, in Derry has been an important factor contributing to our reputation throughout the industry in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland as one of the very best near-shore telemarketing companies.

”Invest NI’s support is ongoing through its North West Local Office. The office has been immensely supportive and is helping us to develop our people and technology, including new IT and telecommunications. Our current workload means that it will be early in 2006 before we will be in a position to bid aggressively and, above all, successfully for business in the US,” he adds.

Kevin Helferty, Invest NI’s NWLO manager, says: “The continuing success of this enterprising and ambitious company shows the benefits that Derry offers contact centre operators especially in terms of quality staff with the very strong people skills and attributes that such businesses require.

Censys has developed a strong portfolio of clients that includes Promise Finance, Concern Worldwide and T Mobile. The company draws most of its workforce from the Magee campus.
