New Invest NI HQ Building will be City Centre Landmark

Dec 16, 2004

Invest Northern Ireland has signed the contract for its new HQ accommodation in Bedford Street in Belfast city centre, Leslie Morrison, chief executive of Invest NI, announced today.

Mr Morrison said: “The negotiations have now been completed and Invest NI can announce that the contract for new HQ accommodation has been awarded to MRDE. Having initially specified our core requirements, we worked very closely with MRDE to finalise the design and service provision of the new building. The technology used in the building and the internal floor layout design are incorporated in such a way that our new HQ can be adapted as the organisation develops enabling us to provide fully integrated services that meet the requirements of our customers. This was a successful combination of the private and public sector working together on a PPP project and Strategic Investment Board has assisted in its delivery.”

Invest NI will occupy the lower eight floors of the 13 storey building from October 2005. It will allow the Invest NI staff currently working from three main sites to come together under one roof.

“The new HQ accommodation will improve internal interaction and communication and benefit all our internal and external customers,” Mr Morrison added.

David Gavaghan, Chief Executive, Strategic Investment Board Limited (SIB), said: “SIB has worked alongside Invest NI throughout the process and I am delighted that this is the first transaction that SIB has supported in Northern Ireland from conception to its financial close. Further SIB supported projects, under the Strategic Investment Programme, will be coming through the system and will make a substantialcontribution to improving the quality of Northern Ireland’s infrastructure.

“The signing of this contract sends a clear message to the market thatNorthern Ireland is now open for business and ready to fast-track investmentacross all of Northern Ireland’s infrastructure.”
