NI Business Info Site to Ease Business Red Tape

Jun 22, 2006

Invest Northern Ireland officially launched a new online information and support facility today, which will ease the burden of red tape by providing access to a comprehensive source of essential business information.

nibusinessinfo.co.uk covers every aspect of setting up and running a business, from the earliest days of developing a business idea to the legal issues involved in selling a going concern. It brings together information from over 40 government departments, and covers topics such as Revenue & Customs, Health & Safety and Trade, helping businesses comply with regulations and run their businesses more efficiently.

Tracy Meharg, Invest NI’s Managing Director of Innovation and Capability Development, says: “nibusinessinfo.co.uk is not just a reference facility, it is one of the most efficient and simple business information tools available in the UK and access is free to businesses of all sizes and in all sectors across Northern Ireland.”

nibusinessinfo is the result of a comprehensive consultation with local stakeholders and local businesses and a review of existing business information. The user-led and user-tested site offers clearly presented, practical advice which offers real support to busy business people 24 hours a day. Companies which register details on the site can also benefit from a free e-mail service which sends alerts when relevant legislation changes and issues reminders for key processes such as tax returns

“The website has over 5000 fact sheets of information and over 70 interactive business tools but every item can be found with only three clicks of a mouse,” adds Tracy Meharg. “Users will find the interactive tools and e-mail updates particularly useful in helping them to cut down the time spent on administration and fact finding.

“I would strongly encourage business people to log on to nibusinessinfo.co.uk today and discover its widespread benefits.”
