Seven Take The Pulse of Design In London

May 09, 2006

Designer-led tableware and knitwear will be among a very broad range of new products on an Invest Northern Ireland group stand at Pulse, London’s major international summer giftware, home accessories and fashions show, from 21-24 May.

Seven local companies, mostly smaller giftware enterprises, will be pitching for business from upmarket retailers and other buyers attending the international event in the Earl’s Court exhibition centre.

Other local products on show include pottery, relaxation items and contemporary mini coolers. Belleek will be exhibiting its contemporary ‘Living’ range of tableware; Ballydougan Pottery, Portadown, a new range of ‘Bramley Apple’ kitchen products and giftware; Bangor’s Creinagh Townsley cropped angora/merino cardigans and jackets; and Dawn Mitchell Design, Hillsborough, special commemorative textile pieces.

Alan Hingston, Invest NI’s Trade Director, commenting on the show, said: “The focus of Pulse is on exclusive products for top-end trade buyers developed by companies with a strong commitment to innovative designs.

“It’s the only show of its kind in the UK and regularly attracts exhibitors and key buyers from Europe and further afield. Our participation in this important international event reflects Invest NI’s focus on encouraging and assisting local companies, both large and small, with a strong commitment to design and focused on building business outside Northern Ireland.

“The Northern Ireland stand includes young designers and companies with established brands.

“As well as enabling smaller Northern Ireland companies in particular to show their products, the event helps them to keep abreast of current trends across many business sectors,” he added.

The Northern Ireland group will be among 800 exhibitors from many parts of the world. The three-day event is expected to attract around 12,000 trade buyers and features special focus areas such as the ‘Trends Café’ and ‘Launchpad’ for new products.
