Call for Aerospace Research & Development projects

The Aerospace industry in the UK is worth £25 billion and is growing year on year. It offers many opportunities for ambitious companies to develop new innovative products for it.

Supply chain collaborative technology projects

Invest Northern Ireland, in association with National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) have a call now open offering grant support for supply chain collaborative technology projects.

The grant support will be up to a maximum 50%, subject to appraisal, with an overall project value of £100k - £300k and duration up to 18 months.

It would be preferable if the project was in line with the national technology roadmaps and had wider exploitation possibilities to enhance the advanced manufacturing sector. Large companies are not expected to apply for funding.

 

What is NATEP

NATEP is aimed at aerospace supply chain companies including small and medium sized suppliers. The aim of this programme is to help such companies develop their own innovative technologies, and at the same time enhance their technology management capabilities, thus increasing their ability to win new business with higher tier companies anywhere in the world.

To apply, the project must:

  • Comprise a supply chain technology partnership of at least two entities but preferably three or more and be industrially led
  • Have the objective of pulling through a new technology * or process for use in a current or future project
  • Show clear benefit both technically and creating or safeguarding jobs
  • Have a clear path to exploitation, typically through a prime or Tier 1 supplier
  • Have collaboration agreement between partners. Intellectual Property is usually retained by funded partners, subject to the agreement

* Not suitable for fundamental research but a wide range of technology readiness levels considered – TRL4-7
