We’re a pretty creative lot in Northern Ireland.

Congratulations to Boogaloo & Graham on winning a BAFTA for ‘British Short Film'. The film was made with the support of Northern Ireland Screen and is another example of our thriving creative industry. The film has also recieved an Academy Award® nomination in the live action short category.

The Creative Industries is one of our fastest growing sectors locally, contributing around £330 million a year to the local economy and employing over 21,000 people.

Our ambition is that by 2020, Northern Ireland will be an internationally acclaimed hub of technological and creative excellence in digital media – developing and distributing new creative content via digital channels and platforms to a global audience.

Behind the scenes talent

Not many people know that Northern Ireland talent is behind many of the special effects, digital content and soundtracks that are familiar to movie buffs, web surfers and gamers around the world.

Northern Ireland has some 250 media production companies, and Belfast’s Titanic Studios is one of the largest and most modern film and television production studios in Europe.

With world-class facilities and talent, Northern Ireland is fast becoming the location of choice for international film and TV companies with productions including Dracula Untold, The Fall, Line of Duty and a host of others.

Most famously, Northern Ireland  is the home of HBO’s awarding winning blockbuster series Game of Thrones.
