Northern Ireland at major Dublin construction show

Fifteen local companies are showing a wide range of products for the construction industry on an Invest Northern Ireland stand at the Plan Expo show in Dublin from 8-10 November.

The participating companies are showcasing products such as doors, windows, access equipment, wrought iron gates, mouldings and drainage systems. The latest timber frame construction techniques will also be highlighted on the Invest NI stand.

The group includes six companies taking part, for the first time, in the exhibition, one of the biggest annual events in the British Isles for construction products, systems and equipment. The newcomers are Access Needs, Craigavon; Bowman Windows, Banbridge; K Scroll, Draperstown; Northern Mouldings, Cookstown; Quality Timber Frame, Rathfriland; and Sean Timoney, Enniskillen.

Now celebrating its 25th year, Plan Expo is expected to attract over 7,000 trade visitors, mostly architects, contractors, civil engineers and project managers. The Northern Ireland group will be among over 200 specialist exhibitors taking part in the event, which is backed by the Construction Industry Federation and the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland.

The Northern Ireland stand is organised by Invest NI’s Trade Division and is an integral part of the Passport to Export programme of exhibitions and trade missions designed to assist Northern Ireland companies to increase sales outside Northern Ireland.

The event includes the coveted OPUS Awards, sponsored by Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking; the annual Construction Industry Conference; the Product of the Show Awards; a host of seminars and workshops and attractions such as the International Pavilions feature. The Sustainable and Renewable Technologies feature, in association with Construct Ireland magazine, a new addition in 2006, will also be making a welcome return for this year’s show.

Alan Hingston, Invest NI’s Director of Trade, commenting on Plan Expo, said: “As well as showing their products and services to a targeted audience of potential buyers, this event enables our companies to keep abreast of trends and developments within an industry that has been growing rapidly in Ireland as a result of huge investment by the private and public sectors on construction and infrastructure projects.

“Over the years our participation at the show has led to many smaller companies developing important leads which have helped them to generate worthwhile business in the Republic and other markets. As a direct result, Plan Expo has become one of the most popular events with smaller companies in particular in our annual trade calendar.”
