CNC Components, a leading kitchen component manufacturer based in Cookstown, received an energy efficiency loan of £200,000 today at the official opening of the Invest Northern Ireland Energy and Environment Show 2006. The show is running on 18 and 19 January at Lisburn’s Leisureplex. This is the first project to be awarded the maximum loan amount since the enhanced scheme’s launch in November 2005.
All businesses in Northern Ireland can apply for the interest free loans of between £5,000 and £200,000 to help them invest in energy saving equipment.
Leslie Morrison, Invest NI’s Chief Executive and Geoff Smyth, the Carbon Trust’s NI Manager, presented the £200,000 interest-free loan to David Brighton, Managing Director of CNC Components. The company will use the loan to invest in energy-efficient and environmentally friendly heating equipment.
Congratulating the company on the project, Leslie Morrison said: “CNC Components is an example of an innovative local firm which has recognised the need to take energy and environmental issues seriously. It is anticipated that this investment will not only save the company over £90,000 annually but will also result in significant benefits to the environment from much reduced carbon emissions.”
At the two-day event, 44 practical seminars are scheduled to offer advice and guidance from experts to help businesses to develop, reduce resource consumption and maximise competitive strength. Additionally, each company attending the show will have the opportunity to enter a free prize draw to win £5,000 worth of energy efficient equipment from the Carbon Trust.
Commenting on the project, David Brighton said: “The project fits in with our company’s strategy of continually seeking out ways of improving our performance across all aspects of the business. I have no hesitation in recommending the Energy Efficiency Programme to other local businesses.”
Geoff Smyth said: “We are delighted to be awarding the first interest-free £200,000 loan to a Northern Ireland company. Upgrading to energy efficient equipment - even with a modest investment - can save a company over 20 per cent on energy bills and this interest-free loan scheme offers a quick and simple way for businesses to get started.”
