Entrepreneurial Spirit Thrives in West

Apr 25, 2005

Over 900 people attended Invest Northern Ireland’s Western Start a Business show on Friday 22 April and Saturday 23 April and a wide range of Western Enterprise Week events.

“We are delighted and very encouraged by the interest displayed in entrepreneurship during Western Enterprise Week and the Western Start a Business Show in Omagh,” said Patricia Devine of Invest Northern Ireland’s Western Local Office.

“The recently launched Global Enterprise Monitor (GEM) report shows that the level of entrepreneurial activity in the west is higher than both the Northern Ireland and the UK average, and we hope Western Enterprise Week and the Start a Business show will build on that.”

“All the events which included workshops on employing migrant workers, renewable energy and franchising were well received and attended.  Calendar girl, Trisha Stewart really captured her audience with her talk on the ‘Journey of five calendar years’.

“With over 550 businesses started in the western region last year, we hope the events and all the help and advice available atthe Start a Business Show will encourage more people to ‘Go for it’ and help those who have to grow and develop.”

If you were unable to attend and want more information phone the ‘Go for it’ helpline on 0808 127 0000.
