Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today announced the opening of Mediasmiths Forge, a Belfast based software research and development facility, which will create 15 new jobs.

Established by media technology company, Mediasmiths, the new facility will act as a hub for innovation and R&D, enabling the company to offer bespoke solutions that solve technical, operational and business problems across the media industry.

Invest Northern Ireland has offered £75,000 of support towards the investment project.

Mediasmiths Forge aims to become a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for organisations looking to fill a digital knowledge gap, or those coping with a period of transformational change in digital workflows and operations.

Making the announcement, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said: “This investment will create 15 highly skilled jobs in the digital media sector, an important and growing industry which has the potential to deliver significant economic benefits to Northern Ireland.

“The Mediasmiths Forge project will deliver over £640,000 annually in salaries making it exactly the type of high quality investment that Invest NI is focused on securing.

The Minister concluded: “Clearly, Mediasmiths has recognised the benefits that Northern Ireland has to offer investors seeking a cost competitive location with a strong specialist skills base that can support global business growth.”
