Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has congratulated NYSE Euronext on recruiting its 300th employee in Northern Ireland.

NYSE Euronext is a leading global operator of financial markets and provider of innovative trading technologies. In 2009, it was announced that the technology arm of the company, with support from Invest Northern Ireland, planned to create technology, operational and corporate jobs in Belfast.

Speaking on a visit to NYSE Euronext, Arlene Foster said: “When this project was originally secured in 2009 it was a significant success for Northern Ireland, given the potential for the jobs to be located in other global locations. Today it has grown to become a major employer, offering high value career opportunities in an important sector and I congratulate the company on reaching this milestone.

“As we work to secure similar quality investment in the face of increasing international competition, NYSE Euronext’s presence here sends a strong message to potential investors that Northern Ireland is one of the best locations in the world from which to grow their business.”

Helena Woodward of NYSE Euronext said: “Northern Ireland continues to offer us a highly competitive location with accessibility, skilled people and a strong ICT sector. We are delighted to have reached this employment milestone and are continuing to focus on recruitment drives as our business need develops. We currently have a range of IT roles available in Belfast and encourage both experienced candidates, and those interested in a career in this growing sector, to visit our website"
