Aug 21, 2009

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has officially opened a new showroom for Banbridge company, The Bowman Group.

The company designs, manufactures and installs a range of aluminium and PVC windows, doors and curtain walling for the domestic and commercial markets.

In recent years, Invest NI, including part funding from the European Regional Development Fund, has offered over £120,000 worth of assistance to help The Bowman Group invest heavily in business improvement initiatives. These included strengthening the management team, improving IT infrastructure and various other measures aimed at boosting capability and efficiency.

Following the successful outcome of these initiatives, the company has self-financed the investment in its new showroom, at a cost of £25,000.

The Minister said: “Since its establishment almost 40 years ago, The Bowman Group has been renowned for its high standard of craftsmanship and an emphasis on customer care.

“This is combined with a determination to design innovative high quality products. These attributes have helped the company withstand difficult trading conditions in the sector during the economic downturn and remain competitive.

“This new showroom is testament to the company’s resilience and commitment to the local area and I wish The Bowman Group every success in its operations here.”

The company has also enjoyed success in the Republic of Ireland and has recently penetrated the Great Britain market, winning significant new business there.

Victor Bowman, Managing Director of The Bowman Group, said: “Despite the well-known economic problems that have arisen recently, we continue to perform strongly, thanks in large part to our growing focus on external markets. We have worked hard to raise the profile of our brand in the GB market through visits to key potential clients and the development of a range of high quality promotional materials.

“The support of Invest NI has been integral to our recent success. Efficiency measures have helped us reduce wastage and boost profitability, whilst a major upgrade of our computer systems has enhanced the company’s online presence and internal operations.”
