Feb 23, 2011

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has congratulated Ballymena-based bus builders Wrightbus on securing a new £55 million contract from Arriva PLC.

Arriva is one of the largest transport services organisations in Europe and the contract will see Wrightbus build a total of 334 new buses.

Arlene Foster said: “This is a substantial order for one of Northern Ireland’s most innovative manufacturing firms. Arriva is one of the largest transport services organisations in Europe and this new business is a major achievement in a competitive marketplace.

“Supported by Invest Northern Ireland, Wrightbus is clearly reaping the benefits of continued investment in new product development and cutting edge design. This order will include the first Wrightbus StreetLite midi-buses, which I officially unveiled last year, to be delivered to an international public transport operator.”
