Antrim company, MD Golf, has secured international orders worth over USD $320,000 (£212,000) after support from Invest Northern Ireland helped it to exhibit a key range of products at the prestigious PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando in January.
The award-winning company, which assembles and sells high quality but affordable golf clubs, exhibited its Seve Ballesteros brand of golf equipment which has been developed as part of a four-year licence agreement with the legendary Spanish golfer.
Managing Director of MD Golf, Michael Morton, says: “Being able to exhibit at PGA was a great opportunity to access key buyers from around the world, but without Invest NI’s support it would not have been possible for us. The show was absolutely incredible and we had enquiries about our products from all over the world, which resulted in firm orders from Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Korea and potential deals with distributors in Hawaii, Philippines, Taiwan the Caribbean, South America and India.
“Invest NI also gave us assistance to undertake follow-up visits. As a result of these we have formalised distribution in Australia, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Hong Kong.”
MD Golf was set up in 1996 and currently employs 12 staff. With Invest NI support it is now recruiting an export logistics manager to support the company’s export drive. It plans to launch a new range of products in the autumn.
John Hood, Invest NI’s Acting Director of Engineering and Business Services, says: “MD Golf‘s agreement with Seve Ballesteros gives it a strong platform on which to build its brand and secure international sales. To fully exploit this, the company is delivering a focused international marketing programme and key to that was exhibiting at Orlando. Our support has enabled it to establish itself as a serious player in the international market and has already helped it secure lucrative deals and distribution arrangements.”
