Jun 21, 2013

Invest Northern Ireland support in 2012/13 has promoted over 2,000 new jobs across the Belfast area.

Of these new jobs promoted, almost 1,300 were as a result of foreign direct investment (FDI) with companies such as Concentrix Technologies, Deloitte, Allstate, and Caterpillar choosing to locate in Belfast. Castlereagh council area also had the highest number of FDI jobs in the last 5 years.

Gren Armstrong, Invest NI’s Eastern Regional Manager, said: “In 2012/13, across Belfast and Castlereagh council areas Invest NI made 1,250 offers of support totalling over £46million of assistance to local and external companies.  This contributed towards total investment in the area of £221million.

“Against a backdrop of continued challenges placed on the economy as a result of the ongoing economic downturn, these results have demonstrated a strong performance with tangible benefits for businesses and the economy. I hope these figures will be received with the positive response they deserve.”
