Invest NI concerned at reports of bogus callers

May 14, 2012

Invest Northern Ireland has been made aware of reports that a number of farmers in the North West have received calls from people claiming to represent the organisation.

These callers claim to be offering assistance in formulating grant applications. Invest NI is not currently undertaking any such work and some concerns have been expressed that the callers are using the Invest NI name to gain information about machinery and products which farms have on site and could potentially be planning robbery at a later date.

Should any business be suspicious about being approached in this manner, they should take a note of their name and either ring their closest Invest NI Regional Office, or our central enquiry number on 0800 181 4422, to check the authenticity of anyInvest NI calls. Suspicious activity should also be reported to the PSNI.
