Invest Northern Ireland results show a strong year of performance in the Mid Ulster District Council Area with almost £181million of investment secured in 2014/15, a 220 per cent increase on last year.
A total of 643 offers of support were made by Invest NI to businesses in the area helping to promote 1,610 new jobs in 2014/15.
Patricia Devine, Invest NI’s Regional manager said “Our results show a significant year of performance in the Mid Ulster area. As well as securing new jobs for the future, 980 new jobs were actually created in 2014/15.
“This year saw significant investments from locally owned companies totaling almost £159 million.
“Dunbia made a significant commitment to the area with the announcement of a major capital investment to create an intelligent boning hall and upgrade production lines which will help create over 200 new jobs.
“We also offered almost £19million of assistance to businesses in the area offering to help them to expand into new markets, invest in skills training for their staff and undertake R&D to remain ahead of the competition.”
Over the Programme for Government period Invest NI support resulted in £359 million of investment and supported the creation of 3,056 new jobs in the Mid Ulster area. These jobs are actually in place.
“To help businesses we offered almost £52million of assistance and made 2,584 offers of support over the Programme for Government Period. This will lead to 4,335 new jobs in the coming years.
“I would encourage businesses within the area to continue working with us on opportunities to develop their businesses further.”
