Environmental Street Furniture Limited in Newtownabbey has appointed a distributor and secured its first order in Azerbaijan.

Invest Northern Ireland has supported the company’s growth plans including assistance with recruiting additional staff, implementing its marketing strategy and arranging exported focus market visits in France and Germany.

The Co. Antrim business designs and sources bespoke street furniture products and has focused heavily on targeting international sales opportunities across Europe and beyond in recent years.  This initial order, for two, with a further commitment for 10 more, of Environmental Street Furniture’s solar powered ‘Street Charge’ outdoor mobile phone charging station product, is worth €20,000 and was shipped to its Azerbaijan partner just last week.

Alan Lowry, Managing Director of Environmental Street Furniture, said: “We were approached by a distributor in Azerbaijan while exhibiting at Big 5 in Dubai last year who was impressed by our innovative solar product. This partnership is a major win for us and represents our first stepping stone into the Middle East marketplace.

“We have seen our sales across Great Britain, Republic of Ireland and Europe grow exponentially over the past 12 months and Invest NI’s support really benefited the company in helping us to grow our reputation among new customers and secure new export sales.”

Moira Loughran, Invest NI’s Eastern Regional Manager, added: “Environmental Street Furniture is an example of an ambitious, export focused business which has taken a proactive approach to growth.

“The Jobs Fund and marketing assistance we offered to the company has played a valuable role in driving the business forward. Environmental Street Furniture has worked hard to position itself competitively in its target markets and hopefully this deal in Azerbaijan will help the company leverage future business in the Middle East.”
