Jun 21, 2016

Forty of Northern Ireland’s successful Materials Handling companies are exhibiting at Hillhead in Derbyshire next week, one of the largest ever presentations of innovative machinery from Northern Ireland in the event’s history.

The leading exhibition for the quarrying, construction and recycling industries is the biggest event in the industry’s calendar. A total of 19 companies will be showing equipment on a group stand organised by Invest Northern Ireland.

Those exhibiting independently include global businesses, based in Northern Ireland, such as McCloskey, Coalisland, Telestack, Omagh, Terex and Sandvik, Dungannon.

First time exhibitors this year include Strickland, Coalisland, Crushing Screening Parts, Maghera, Euro Springs, Dungannon, Metberg Enviro, Omagh and Northern Crusher Spares, Castlederg.

Alison Gowdy, Invest NI’s Trade Director, said: “Northern Ireland is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in the design and manufacture of materials handling equipment for a broad range of applications including construction, quarrying, mining, recycling and concrete production.

“The region boasts one of the world’s most successful clusters of engineering companies. The 40 companies exhibiting at Hillhead this year sold over £500 million of specialist machinery worldwide in 2014/15.

“Hillhead offers a global platform to position Northern Ireland’s capabilities in this industry. We have the largest ever group representation this year and our 3,100 square metre pavilion will be an impressive showcase of the skills, knowledge and experience of our local companies.

“Market-led and customer focused innovation continue to drive growth in this sector and Northern Ireland’s expertise and comprehensive network of suppliers puts our local businesses in a strong competitive position to meet increasing global demand.”
