Saudi Arabia is the largest economy in the Arab World and its oil based economy has the largest GDP of all the countries in the Middle East. Opportunities exist across a range of sectors which include healthcare, infrastructure, water, education, food & drink.
With 50% of Saudis under 25 years old, the Saudi population is one of the fastest growing in the world. The current population of over 28 million is expected to increase to 29 million by 2020.
The UAE has diversified its economy away from oil. Non-oil sectors now contribute about 70% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It’s the second largest Arab economy after Saudi Arabia and 30th largest globally with the 18th highest GDP per capita (USD 44,200) rate.
The UAE’s rapid growth, urbanisation and young population are fuelling demand across the leisure, infrastructure, real estate and utilities sectors. Its infrastructure plans are huge, underpinned by the UAE’s Vision 2021.
With Expo 2020 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s 2030 Economic Vision, UAE is spending on infrastructure, healthcare and education. The UAE 2018 budget is set at 56.6 billion AED (11 billion GBP), and predominantly expenditure will be on infrastructure, healthcare and education in the lead up to Expo 2020.
Dubai is the commercial capital and the largest city in the UAE with 1.2 million people. It is a regional hub, servicing the MENA region. Many of the 5,000 successful UK companies are SME’s and based in Dubai.
It is not a requirement to visit both mission centres. If you would like to visit one centre plus another GCC market please speak with the mission manager.
