Axis Three Secures £1 Million Funding Round and Alliance with Siemens

Belfast-based Axis Three Ltd, a pioneer in 3D solutions for cosmetic and plastic surgery, today announced the closing of a £1 million funding round and an exclusive partnership with Siemens to support the further development of an advanced 3D scanning system.

The funding round was led by Clarendon Fund Managers and supported by Invest Northern Ireland. Investors included NITech and Viridian Growth Fund, halo the Northern Ireland Business Angel Network and the University Challenge Fund.

Siemens, the global electrical engineering and electronics company, exclusively licensed 3D image acquisition technology for cosmetic surgery and other applications to Axis Three and will provide support and assistance in developing an advanced 3D scanning system.

Axis Three develops an advanced 3D capturing and imaging solution, which will enable patients to see the ‘before’ and ‘after’ effects of different cosmetic surgery procedures in realistic photo 3D.

Martin Bradley, Managing Director, Axis Three said: “We are delighted to have Siemens as our partner in pioneering our 3D imaging technology for the medical industry.”

“With rapid growth in the US cosmetic surgery market there are vast opportunities for such innovative, technically advanced products. Together with the funding round the Siemens partnership will help us to develop a streamlined, turnkey package and exploit these market opportunities.”

Welcoming the Siemens partnership, John Thompson, Director of Innovation Research and Technology at Invest NI, which supported the initial product development, added: “Axis Three has demonstrated how innovation and in particular, a strong focus on R&D, can open up new opportunities and give high-growth potential global start-ups a competitive edge in international markets.

“Axis Three’s commitment to product development will be complemented by the Siemens partnership which will provide world class 3D capturing technology and expertise in medical applications as Axis Three enters a specialised US marketplace.”

Christian Wiesinger, CFO of Siemens Technology Accelerator, commented: '’ We discovered a perfect fit of Axis Three’s existing offering in 3D imaging hard- and software with our 3D capturing technology. Moreover we are impressed with the knowledge and experience Axis Three already gained in developing such 3D systems. Now we look to Axis Three, with its strong management and engineering team and its solid technology base, to transfer those technologies into marketable products.”
