Building Success At Plan Expo In Dublin

Innovative building products and services from 15 Northern Ireland companies will be on show at the Plan Expo show in Dublin, from 9-11 November, now one of Europe’s leading construction industry showcases.

The companies will be showing a broad range of products and services at the event, which is being held in the RDS Simmonscourt and is the only exhibition that is endorsed by the Construction Industry Federation and the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland.

The Northern Ireland group stand, branded as Northern Ireland Constructive Ideas will be among over 250 exhibitors at the exhibition, which is expected to attract over 6,000 industry professionals, mostly from the Republic of Ireland, and is the focal point of Ireland’s Construction Week.  Visitors to the show will include architects, contractors, engineers, developers and sub contractors.

A range of activities is scheduled during the exhibition including the coveted OPUS Awards, sponsored by Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking; the annual Construction Industry Conference; the Product of the Show Awards; a host of seminars and workshops, and the Renewable Technology Pavilion, a new feature this year.

Kevin McCann, Invest NI’s Director of Construction, Transport and Tourism, commenting on the exhibition, said: “Plan Expo is the best possible platform for Northern Ireland companies seeking to develop contacts and business in the Republic, one of Europe’s most dynamic markets for construction products and services.

“The massive investment in most aspects of infrastructure either being implemented or planned in the Republic and investment in housing throughout the country provides tremendous market opportunities to Northern Ireland companies in the construction/building industry. Construction spend in the Republic is currently worth around £20 billion and a further £10 billion is being spent on building materials.

“Many of the companies on our stand are already doing business in the Republic and will have an opportunity to strengthen existing contacts and make new contacts in what is already the biggest export market for Northern Ireland products and services,” he added.

On display on the Northern Ireland stand are new products such as modular bathroom and bedrooms for hotels, marble, terrazzo and mosaic flooring, stainless steel masonry, glass reinforced plastic products, specialist joinery products,  architectural stone, uPVC windows and doors, plastic extrusions and powder coating systems.
