E-Business Helps Company Polish up Administration.
Antrim company Robinson Cleaning is one of 500 companies that has been assisted during the last year by Invest NI's e-business team. The team works with businesses to help them identify the potential benefits of embracing technology to achieve business objectives.
Employing 500 staff, Robinson Cleaning provides cleaning and support services to clients across Northern Ireland and Co. Donegal. The company realised that its remotely based operations managers were wasting a lot of time travelling into the head office in Antrim to carry out administration related to its manual purchase order approval system.
The company asked Invest NI’s e-business team to help it develop remote access to a purchase order approval system for the operations managers.
The project involved mapping and revising the approval process. The e-business team then designed and built web based prototype technology to
automate the purchase order system and provide more accurate, timely budget information.
As a result of the new technology the company’s operations managers have been released to concentrate on providing a better service to customers and gaining new contracts.
David Robinson, Managing Director of Robinson Cleaning, says: “The Invest NI e-business team provided us with the basis for an exciting, innovative solution to the communications difficulties we faced with our remote management team. They streamlined our order approval process, facilitated remote information exchange and supported our team
in adopting the solution.”
Invest NI's e- business team can help businesses review their key processes and introduce new technology to improve operations in a range of areas including collecting and analysing information, quality control and customer relationship management.
Olive Hill, Director of Knowledge Management in Invest NI says: ”People tend to think of e-business only as buying and selling on-line, but e-business applications can be used to address many aspects of a company’s operations”.
“Our e-business team is helping companies across Northern Ireland to develop new systems and processes that are boosting productivity and making business more competitive.”
