Foster announces 79 new jobs for Lisburn company

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today announced that Lisburn company Decora Blind Systems is creating 79 jobs with support from Invest Northern Ireland’s Jobs Fund.

The company, which produces window blinds, started as a small family-owned business in 1979 and has grown into a dynamic, innovative enterprise currently employing 377 people.

Decora Blind Systems is investing over £2million in additional salaries over the next two years and has been offered £237,000 of support from Invest NI.

Announcing the new jobs Arlene Foster said: “Decora’s success has been characterised by continuous innovation that has led to it becoming a successful and established brand in the UK.

“The development of new product lines and increased levels of marketing will support the company’s aims of further growth.

“Invest Northern Ireland’s Jobs Fund has helped many companies like Decora Blind Systems to quickly access support for job creation, which is so important to revitalising our economy.”

Decora is ranked as one of the largest window blind producers in the UK and its clients include some of the largest independent blind companies in the country. The company has focused on manufacturing speciality products, introducing contemporary ranges with high value design properties.

Stuart Dickson, Managing Director of Decora, said: “Our goal is to strengthen the manufacturing capabilities of the business including the high end home automation market while delivering further progress to our wholesale customers through new bespoke systems to support the 2012 Fabric Box Collection.

“Over the years we have received a range of support from Invest NI, which has helped us with technical issues, product development and marketing. This latest support ensures we can move quickly to put jobs in place and continue to build on the company’s market share.”

Invest NI’s Jobs Fund has a budget of £19 million to support the creation of 4,000 jobs by March 2014. It is part of the Boosting Business initiative.
