GM Marketing invests in innovation and new jobs

GM Marketing in Belfast is investing £1.6 million with assistance from Invest Northern Ireland in innovative products that will also lead to the creation of 15 new jobs.

Founded in 1999 by Managing Director Gerard McAdorey, GM Marketing specialises in marketing services for food products. It has just launched a new range of Free’ist brand sugar-free cookies, biscuits and jams.

Invest NI has offered GM Marketing £63,000 through the Jobs Fund to support the 15 new jobs. Additional support has been offered towards the branding and marketing of new food products in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland, and towards the enhancement GM Marketing’s information technology system.

Peter McArdle, Invest NI’s Acting Director of Food and Tourism, said: “The development of the new range marks a significant diversification by this small company into the manufacture of its own products for sale outside Northern Ireland.

“Our support is focused on encouraging and helping companies generate sales abroad leading to greater employment opportunities in Northern Ireland. These new jobs at GM Marketing, which include senior marketing posts, will generate more than £160,000 for the local economy in terms of salaries and wages.”

Mr McAdorey said: “Launching our own Free’ist range of branded products is an immensely important stage in the development of the company. It will position us for even faster growth in our target markets of the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.

“Invest NI helped us to create a very attractive brand and packaging format for the 15-strong portfolio of products that we have developed for the sugar-free market and in particular, diabetic customers. A number of the products are also gluten free. The support will enable us to expand marketing teams in Great Britain and the Republic and to provide additional back office support for them particularly in terms of IT.”
