Great Guns Go For It at Business Breakfast

Award winning entrepreneur Liz Jackson gave a powerful and inspiring keynote address to local business people this morning, at the final Go For It Business Breakfast of 2004. Organised by the Institute of Business Advisors, in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Business for Business, the Go For It Business Breakfast was part of a series of entrepreneurship events supported by Invest Northern Ireland.

Described as an inspiration to young businesswomen everywhere, Liz Jackson demonstrated to her audience of over 100 local businesspeople how anyone can experience success over adversity.

Winner of the T-Mobile Women Mean Business Award 2003, thirty year old Ms Jackson is the Managing Director of telemarketing firm, Great Guns Marketing, which she founded in 1998 thanks to a £1000 grant from the Prince’s Trust. Despite losing her sight and being registered blind a year later, Ms Jackson continued to successfully direct the company, becoming a source of inspiration with her innovative and adaptable approach to business.

Ms Jackson provided a stimulating and candid overview as to how she, and her company, succeeded in the face of adversity. Her audience listened intently as she outlined how Great Guns Marketing now has annual revenues of over £1.5 million, with company growth continuing to exceed 40% on a yearly basis and 70 staff handling an impressive client base of 500 companies, including Wella and Johnson and Johnson.

“For those entrepreneurs who are dreaming about starting a business Ms Jackson is a perfect example of how they too could succeed,” said Alan Morrow of Invest NI.

“Her determination and adaptability helped the company to secure a competitive edge, even when faced with unexpected difficulties. Aspiring entrepreneurs should be inspired by Ms Jackson’s exceptional story and explore their business ideas. With a wide and comprehensive network of support available for start up companies, Northern Ireland’s budding entrepreneurs should have the confidence to Go For It!”
