Hospitality business backed by Invest Northern Ireland

Magherafelt-based Tina O’Hagan Associates Ltd is being assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to develop specialist catering consultancy services for the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain markets.

The company, formed in 2008 by Tina O’Hagan, an experienced sales design consultant in the catering and hospitality sectors, is investing £150,000 to grow its business and services. Invest NI has offered financial assistance of £18,700 to the project that will provide two quality jobs over the next three years.

Assistance for the business was announced by Des Gartland, Invest NI’s North West Regional Office Manager in Londonderry, at the company’s premises at Rainey Street in Magherafelt. Tina O’Hagan is the first woman in Ireland to gain the prestigious CFSP, (Certified Food Service Professional), certification from the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association UK. She is one of only five individuals in Europe to achieve Platinum status for this certification.

Mr Gartland said: “Tina O’Hagan Associates is providing specialist design and sales consultancy, as well as the installation and delivery of commercial catering kitchens to the hospitality and leisure industry. This industry is continuing to grow steadily in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland and will benefit from someone with Miss O’Hagan’s focused approach to the industry.

“Invest NI support, which has included guidance from an experienced business mentor, is geared to enable the company to market its expertise especially in target markets outside Northern Ireland and also to expand her services to the industry. We have also assisted Tina in the development of management information technology for the business that will help in enhancing its overall competitiveness.

“Tina has acquired many top brands of leading equipment agencies for the distribution of catering and bar equipment such as Electrolux professional products and services. The investment will help establish a centre of expertise in food services, consultancy, and the design and sales of catering equipment within the hospitality and leisure industries in the North West,” he added.

Tina O’Hagan, outlining her business plans, said: “I set up the business to meet a market demand I identified for a specialist company offering a different competitive service covering consultancy, design, and the supply and installation of catering equipment for the hospitality and leisure industries, particularly within public sector bodies such as local councils, hospitals and schools that require a new approach.

“My knowledge and experience in the industry stretches over 25 years having worked in London, Dublin and Northern Ireland. This enables prospective clients and companies to tap into this extensive experience and also to benefit from established contacts I have developed with major equipment suppliers worldwide including Electrolux Professional, a world leader in the catering industry.

“I offer access to computerised design as an essential part of my portfolio of expert services. I can provide a turnkey package from design to installation and also offer full consultancy, service, training, sales and marketing coaching for all new businesses in my sector.”
