Huco Lightronic's New Facility Officially Opened

Limavady based Hüco Lightronic officially opened its new 22,000 sq ft manufacturing premises at Aghanloo Industrial Estate.

The new facility will allow the company to streamline operations and improve production processes in the manufacture of its high technology lighting components.

Speaking at the opening ceremony was Professor Fabian Monds, Chairman of Invest Northern Ireland, which contributed £450,000 to the overall project cost of £1.2 million.

He said: “This investment demonstrates the confidence that the Hüco parent company in Germany has in its Northern Ireland business. The expansion of manufacturing space and the consequent improvement to process flows will allow the company to meet the demands of a growing customer base. It also illustrates that the company recognises the need for continual improvement in order to remain competitive in the international marketplace. “

Hüco Lightronic currently employs almost 70 people and has invested heavily not only in the new facility but in training and programmes of excellence. It has achieved an impressive list of accreditations including Investors in People, ISO 9002 Quality Assurance and the ISO Environmental Management System standard.

Managing Director, Willie Donaghy, said: “Hüco Lightronic has maintained steady growth over last five years, in what have been at times challenging market conditions. This investment will ensure that that growth continues by enabling us to improve the efficiency of our manufacturing processes thus increasing profit margins, and making the company more competitive.“

Hüco Lightronic Ltd is a UK subsidiary of Hüco electronic GmbH of Germany, which is a wholly owned by LRP Capital GmbH

“This project is a significant investment in the North West and consolidates the Northern Ireland operation as a key component of the Group,” added Willie Donaghy.

The company specialises in energy-efficient electronic control equipment for lighting systems largely for the export market and has derived its competitive advantage by improving existing products and introducing new innovative products.

“Electronics is a growth industry and Invest NI is keen to attract and maintain inward investment in this sector,” said Fabian Monds.

“The success of Hüco Lightronic, built on teamwork, product innovation, knowledge of the marketplace and meeting customer needs, is set to continue and there is very real potential for further investment by the parent company.”

Attending the opening were the Chief Executive and Directors from Hüco Lightronic’s German parent company as well as local dignitaries.
