Hunter Apparel Announces £500,000 Investment and 16 New Jobs
Hunter Apparel Solutions in Londonderry is investing £502,000 and providing 16 new jobs with assistance from Invest Northern Ireland to expand exports.
The company, which is based at Springtown, currently employs 45 people in the design, production and supply of bespoke uniform packs, other corporate clothing and work wear for clients in both private and public sectors in the UK and other international markets.
The company provides a global sourcing service for customers requiring complete uniform/work wear packs.
Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company assistance of £96,000 from the Jobs Fund towards this latest expansion.
Grainne McVeigh, Invest NI’s Director of Life Sciences, Electronics and Consumer Products, said: “This is a strategically important project for this ambitious company and the wider North West community because it includes a substantial investment in manufacturing capacity to enable us to capitalise on a developing market opportunity for clothing made in the UK.
“The investment, part of an ongoing series of expansions by the family-owned business, will enable the company to expand its presence significantly in its target markets outside Northern Ireland and strengthens its position as a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality uniforms, corporate clothing and work wear.
“The project, in addition, offers opportunities for skilled people and those wishing to develop skills in an area of social need. The expansion will mean an additional £250,000 annually in wages to the local economy.”
Simon Hunter, Hunter Apparel’s Managing Director, said: “Our business has been growing rapidly particularly in target markets including Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland because of our reputation as a responsive and flexible supplier of quality clothing and our versatility in developing bespoke solutions for a broad range of clients.
“Our standing owes much to the experience and expertise we offer as a designer of quality uniform clothing using intelligent textiles, our ability to manufacture bespoke items of clothing and our shirt making history.
“The new investment, supported by Invest NI, enables us to expand our manufacturing services and thereby offer existing and potential clients faster turnaround times and even greater flexibility.
“Our overall competitiveness in demanding markets outside Northern Ireland will be substantially enhanced. Invest NI’s assistance has enabled us to bring this important strategic investment forward faster and to recruit additional employees,” he added.
