Invest NI Chairman Announces £23m Expansion by Northbrook

Invest Northern Ireland Chairman Stephen Kingon today announced a £23.5 million expansion by Northbrook Technology that will create 400 new software development jobs in Belfast and Londonderry.

Northbrook, a leading international software development and business process outsourcing (BPO) firm, already employs 1400 people across three locations in Belfast, Derry and Strabane.

Welcoming the expansion Mr Kingon said:  “Today’s announcement underpins Northbrook’s long-term commitment to Northern Ireland and sends a clear message that Northern Ireland can be a serious contender in the global software market.

“This investment is a further step in our determination to drive the local economy up the value chain. It will increase Northern Ireland’s international competitiveness and enhance our reputation as a preferred location for high value-added investment.”

The investment is being supported by £5.6 million of assistance from Invest NI and will enable Northbrook Technology to significantly expand its software development function and take advantage of higher value market opportunities. The 400 new jobs will inject almost £10 million in salaries annually, into the local economy.

Bro McFerran, Managing Director of Northbrook Technology added: “This investment and the continued support from Invest NI will enable Northbrook to carry out higher value software development and will expand our range of products and services.

“We are pleased that our continued partnership with Invest NI has resulted in our making a further investment in the local economy. Our increased capability will give Northbrook a stronger, more competitive position in the international financial services market.

“Only by a continued investment in people and skills can we sustain our position as a leading player in an increasingly competitive global market.”
