Invest NI Check Up Helps E-Learning Company Identify Route To Growth
Award-winning Belfast e-learning company Aurion is set to double its turnover and staff levels, and substantially increase exports as part of a £700,000 investment supported by Invest Northern Ireland.
Aurion plans to employ nine new staff, complete a programme of product development; and increase exports to over 80% of sales over the next three years. The planned expansion comes after Invest NI carried out a Business Health Check on the company and helped it to draw up a strategic plan for growth.
The Business Health Check, which benchmarks a business’s performance against similar organisations, helped the company to identify its strengths and weaknesses and pinpoint where investment would yield greatest results.
As a result Aurion is investing in strengthening its management team, development of a sales and marketing strategy, implementing new management information systems and creating a new product development team.
Donal Durkan, Director of Life Sciences and Creative, says: “Aurion is a dynamic, innovative company, operating within the high growth e-learning sector. It has achieved significant success through a focus on creative product development and excellence in customer care. It is now ready to take the business to the next level and achieve further growth through targeting new export markets.”
Invest NI is supporting the company’s investment which will make it one of Northern Ireland’s largest indigenous e-learning organisations. The project will make an important contribution to developing the digital media sector in Northern Ireland.
Dr Maureen Murphy, Managing Director of Aurion, says the company’s success is due to its passion for solving learning challenges in a creative way. “This investment will allow us to further develop our portfolio of products to meet the changing needs of clients and develop a long term strategy for increasing our share of this vibrant and fast growing market.”
Aurion has recently been short-listed for the International eLearning Age Awards 2006 and will attend a prestigious awards ceremony in London in November.
