Invest NI fuels major contract win for West Belfast company

Invest Northern Ireland has helped Pumps and Fuel Installations Ltd, a West Belfast based company, to secure a number of export contracts including a £1 million contract with Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail).

Based at Invest NI’s Whiterock Business Park, Pumps and Fuel Installations specialises in the installation and maintenance of service station forecourt and transport depot fuel storage facilities. The Irish Rail contract work will involve the design, supply, installation and maintenance of a major Irish Rail fuel storage tank farm and dispensing system at a purpose built facility in Portlaoise, County Laois.

Pumps and Fuel Installations has benefited from a range of Invest NI assistance, including marketing and e-business support, business planning assistance and property support for its relocation to Invest NI’s Whiterock Business Park.

Kevin Wright, Pumps and Fuel Installations’ Joint Managing Director, said: “We have grown steadily over the past number of years, and with the help of Invest NI we have been able to refine our business practices and set about targeting export markets in the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. The wide range of support has given us an edge over competitors in these markets, and combined with a new export strategy, we are confident of even further growth in new markets.

“Our upgraded e-business facility allows us to have an integrated system from original customer quotation right through to project completion, which removes manual effort and minimises error, leading to a much higher efficiency. Also, assistance with the recruitment of new management has given us more time to focus on developing our core business and gain valuable contracts such as the Irish Rail deal.”

Invest NI’s Director of Engineering and Business Services, Brian Dolaghan, said: “Pumps and Fuel Installations is committed to achieving higher turnover and profits by adopting a more international focus, and has fully utilised our support in doing so. The company is now well positioned to exploit opportunities throughout Europe, and we look forward to seeing continued success for the company.

“This contract win is testimony to the standard of service provided by Pumps and Fuel Installations, and shows that many specialist services provided by Northern Irish companies are tradable internationally.”
